Few days ago I went to Al Qudra with a friend and while going though the the name sake lakes, thought of doing some off-roading. Put my car in 4×4 and drove a few meters but soon realised I do not have the knowledge of how to do it. Went home that evening and searched for off-road clubs in Dubai, UAE and found carnity.com. It was well organised and made sense at that time. Soon I registered and joined the most recent available drive which was on the weekend. Got up early and drove to the meeting point. Soon we were deflated and started on my first ever drive.

The drive started at 5:00 am and had a convoy size of 12 drivers. We covered a distance of 32.8 km in about 2:03 hours. I learnt that it is quite different in driving in the desert compared to on road and on the very first dune I had refusal. By the end of the drive I was giving more power than I thought I needed and with few more refusals I stepped into the world of off-roading in desert in UAE.
